I'm looking for a competant Flash designer / programmer to create a flash-based crossword game where online players will be tested on their knowledge of words/phrases that will be taken from our database. The game would need to utilise UTF-8 encoding and would include words from ANY two languages. The crossword will receive the word/definition/etc information in XML via an http request from a PHP 4.x script (running on a Linux box), that is connected to a MYSQL server. Proper attention must be paid to the character encoding. We use UTF-8 encoding to support the entire Unicode character set (latin, thai, korea, japan, china, etc). The crossword must retrieve the word/phrase and it's corresponding Definition OR Example Sentence OR Translation from the user's account on the MySQL database and create a classic crossword puzzle much like the puzzles on this page... [login to view URL] While the puzzle is being created there should be a progress bar with an accompanying image and sound. The user must be able to set the difficulty of the puzzle under the game's Settings area (we will provide a mySQL field where this is recorded) and that field must be updated at the end of the game depending on whether the player successfully guesses the word/phrase. There should also be a sound when the user succeeds in finding a word and a 'congratulations' screen with accompanying sound when the game is successfully completed. There should be the count down clock, though this should be able to be turned off under the games Settings area. If the clock runs out then they are presented the 'You Failed' screen. Players must have the option to quickly and easily turn the all game sounds off. The design should be in keeping with the colours and style of our website.
