My approach to solve your problem : 1) capture metrics from your system every 5 min , and do some charts 2) i suppose you use mysql , configure mysql to see wich query is wrong 3) analyze charts to see what wrongs 4) optimize database if we can find something 5) add cache logics in your app if we can do it
