I am looking for someone much smarter than me to modify my Cisco 1841 IOS image so that the first thing it does (at the earliest time possible) is to erase the NVRAM.
My plan was to modify the binary in such a way that when the router prints "Press RETURN to get started!" on the console it instead jumps to the routine that begins as soon as a user enters the command "erase nvram".
The reason I am doing this is because I have been locked out of my Cisco router and password recovery is not working. For more details see this post: [login to view URL]
Which has full details of the attempts that have been taken to resolve this problem. I also have another option which is to physically remove the NVRAM chip from the motherboard and replace it with a new one.
Thanks.
