We have manuals for the operation of our new toasters [with many significant disclaimers of actions to avoid], but humans do not get an operator’s manual for how to live their life. Social networks are fun, but they often aren’t very thoughtful. The most-discussed topic in 2011 on Facebook and Twitter [based on occurrence] was the weather, followed by Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga, [[login to view URL] March 2011]. The weather is important to us all, but there is a reason most of us call it “small” talk.
