I have a flash site with custom form entry (well the graphic at least).
I'd like to use that to interact with the database in real time for when users are entering information that corresponds to large (1000k+) entries, say, Author Name. So as they type it presents a selection list below for matches.
[Enter Name Here]
So user types:
[Ran ]
Selection list might be
Ayn Rand
Alison Randing
Randall Scott
and then continues typing
[Rand ]
the list is now
Ayn Rand
Alison Randing
and of course
[Rand ]
and is now
Ayn Rand
As soon as the user makes a selection it then adds the name to the list using a checkbox / radio button asset we already have and the user can adda another.
[x] Ayn Rand
[Enter Name Here]
As I build my own user forms in xml using an asset library already built I'd want this to be the same thing.
Essentially I would declare the name of the asset say dbFill and parameters such as:
1) Any Word/First Word (does it compare to any word in the string or just the first word e.g. Randall Scot or Ayn Rand) and in all cases it compares to start of word not middle/end (e.g. not Barand)
2) Which words to ignore, e.g. of: and: university
3) which table to use
As discussed i already have asset where I do similar things e.g.
(item type="input" maxChars="12" restrict="0-9")(/item)
and
$q="select * from myDB_someTable WHERE id='2'":
so I see this as being added to the input definition e.g.
(item type="input" maxChars="12" restrict="0-9" dbAdd="Yes" dbAddType="any" dbAddRestrict="of:and:the")(/item)
$q="select * from myDB_someTable":
or something similar
