**French-English dictionary to plug into existing site at [login to view URL]**
Visitor enters a word or phrase in French.? If there is only one possible translation in English, visitor is immediately taken to this word in <[login to view URL]>.? If there is more than one possible translation of the word into English, the visitor is taken to a landing page where he can choose which English word he wants to hear.? When he clicks on one of these English words, he is taken to the word in <[login to view URL]>.
## Deliverables
Here's a more detailed description of how it should work:
Visitor enters a word or phrase in French, including french accents.
?
1? If the word is not in the dictionary, two things happen:
? ? ? ? 1.1.? Visitor sees “Our nearest entry is…??, with the nearest French entry.
? ? ? ? 1.2.? The failed search is logged in french/unsuccessful .log for possible inclusion in the dictionary.
2? If the word is listed in the dictionary with only one possible translation in English, visitor is taken immediately to that word in <[login to view URL]> .
3? If the word is listed in the dictionary with two or more possible translations, visitor is taken to a landing page showing the choices, with notes. Visitor can then click on any choice to be taken to its entry in <[login to view URL]> .
4? If the word is listed in the dictionary as a form of another word, eg “pouvez?? is listed as a form of the verb “pouvoir??, visitor is redirected to the entry/entries for “pouvoir??.
?
I’m attaching a sample in Excel of how the database might look, with a few hundred French words already entered.? There needs to be an easy way to enter new words online, with their English translation(s).? The appearance of the website has to be consistent with the appearance of <[login to view URL]>.? Alphabetical browse (as on howjsay) must also be possible.
? There will be additional projects after this one to develop more one-way dictionaries linked to howjsay, including Italian-English, German-English, and Spanish-English.? The developer does not need to be able to speak any of these languages.
