I use rsync ssh to make some file server backup daily based. It make a daily snapshot with the file system. And it has email notice function. and backup logging. It works well.

Hi. I'd write you a bash application that would do an rsync backup then tar and gzip the archive and send it to an offsite location. It's usually not a good idea to do a flat copy of the mysql data directory as mysql stores a lot of table data and current queries in memory so copying the files doesn't actually get everything. The best practice is to use mysqldump or mysqlhotcopy to make a backup and store that instead. For offsite backup I recommend using amazon glacier for this as its fairly cheap and very reliable. It's what i use on my servers. Did you need the restore process coded as well? If that's the case it will take a bit longer than anticipated. I have most of the code i'd need already made so I can jump on this quick. Let me know :)

Hi there you need simply a tar script implemented on your server and link it to a cron job. That is it. I can do the job in about 60 minutes.
