Language attitudes There is evidence to show that attitudes to a language or dialect are related to attitudes to the speakers of that language or dialect. Discuss with reference to some of the studies on this issue, such as those by Lambert et al. (1966) on Canadian English and French, but also more recent studies by Purnell et al. (1999) on Hispanic and Black speakers of American English or Coupland & Bishop (2007) on British regional accents. Comment on the relevance of these findings for language attitudes towards varieties of Australian English. This is a 1800 word essay for the subject; Linguistics. The following 3 resources that must be referred to in this essay are; Lambert, Purnell and Coupland. These resources are provided below. Referencing is also required. The main argument in the essay must focus mainly on the attitudes of a language and how they are affected or related to the speakers of that language or dialect, and must talk about Australian English at some point during this essay.
