Help set up sql native client and PHP network connection to an MS-SQL 2005 express db

Need a few hours help ASAP connecting to MS-SQL 2005 express db (win2003 sp2) with php 5.3 (compiled MSVC9 - Visual C++ 2008, using FastCGI) from Win 7. For some reason I can't get PHP to connect from the client web server to the db on the win 2003 box across the network. I have installed the PHP sqlsrv files on the web server and get the error: "Configure command = "--without-mssql" "--without-pdo-mssql" and Registered streams - sqlsrv not present. I can connect to the db via ASP on the web server so I guess normal issues like Surface Area Configuration are OK on the 2003 box . Other than that I cant work out what's going wrong with the Native client install and the [login to view URL]'s What I need is for someone to connect to both machines and get the PHP connection to the db working for me whilst leaving the ASP connection intact.
