Task1 The manager of the travel agency TheBestHoliday would like to enhance the existing customer support system with online services. That should allow the customers to do the following: - to register and get an user name and a password in order to access the online services; - to book, change and cancel a holiday; - to record the locations where they have been - to record the features of holidays they like - to check a holiday availability and access the web services of holiday companies (ie the air company, the hotel etc ) - to chat online with a holiday representative in location. Develop the architecture & build a skeleton for the deployment of an integrated internet application to support the travel agency TheBestHoliday TASK2 Report (100% o/a mark) Build a skeleton infrastructure for the travel agency showing the structure of the content management databases using any application environment appropriate you choose for the task. Specify the web infrastructure for deployment. Prepare a concise deployment document/report (max 5000 words) making extensive use of diagrams, charts and flow diagrams including code: • An executive summary • The case for implementing an Internet Rich Application • Scope document for the deployment • Training plan for staff to use the infrastructure you recommend. A mark of 60% will be allocated to the functionality of the web site (web server/ content database/security/transaction) A further 40% will be allocated to the deployment of innovative features of the web resource, for example: • “call me now” function integrating with VoIP (skype etc). • Use of Web services within infrastructure. • Consumption of content feeds. • Use of external resources ie [login to view URL] LOM compliant repository of training materials. • Google earth links. • Search engine optimisation / automated discovery. • Connection to a translation engine TASK3 The practical part of the assessment is the demonstration to the tutor of the application itself, which is submitted as a code listing together with other required documentation as the 5,000 word equivalent written part. The viva is to guard against plagiarism.
