php ajax link listing

i have a tube site that has text links listing the recently played movies. I want a script that would constantly update the list while a user is on a page. The script will need to be entirely php and consist of 1 single file. my current system stores all the recently watched movies in a database by their id. so when a person visits [login to view URL] 3 is stored in the databaase when a person visits [login to view URL] 88 is stored in the databaase
