Pixels for Peace

As of yet I have not raised the money to fund this project. My goal is to have this website launched on the 21st September 2012 - World Peace Day. I'm listing this project with Freelancer now to see if there is any interest and also to find out whether the design of the project as described below is possible. I appreciate your time :) Vision Synopsis of The Globe - Pixels for Peace Pixels for Peace is a charity fundraising website, raising money for multiple charities simultaneously in order to effect the biggest change on this planet. Our vehicle is innovation, and with technology, we will introduce a powerful message—that humans can live in a more united, peaceful, loving world. And we will help them do that. This idea for change involves the creation of a new website, which consists of a 3D revolving globe, on which the pixels creating the land masses can be purchased by individuals or companies in return for the equivalent pixel sized space. Whenever pixels are purchased the buyer also creates a profile with more information on themselves. This profile would contain enlarged images, a bio, links to the buyer’s websites, as well as a live stream of status updates, being fully integrated with Facebook, Twitter and other social media networks. Integration will help give the website visibility across different platforms and allow people the opportunity to tell their friends or followers about the positive change they are helping create in the world. People who have not donated will also be invited to create free profiles with various limitations in order to help spread the word further. At Pixels for Peace we recognize the fact that to truly change the world you need to tackle more than one issue at a time. That is why the donations are shared between established charities working in disaster relief, humanitarian aid and development aid; creating change on a global scale. Customers will be able to view and choose exactly where their donations go. This is a powerful idea because it taps into the public’s desire for peace and positive change and also their desire to tell other people about themselves and what they are doing, acting as a promotional platform, mutually benefitting the customer through personal or brand exposure and increasing their online presence. The idea of selling pixels in return for advertising has been proven before with the Million Dollar Homepage, where a man named Alex Tew created a website made-up of a million pixels and sold them all for $1 each, he did this in 6 months. Astonishing. And that is without the added incentive of creating peace and positive change in the world, imagine the potential the idea has with this added to the equation? ...... I've cut the synopsis here so to add some other details. The main design areas would be: - the design of the globe, which would need to be spinnable and interactive to select and view pixels of choice - also interactive mapping to select the pixel to buy eg, corresponding to the country outline wanted or perhaps the person's own location in the world - an interactive form for details and secure online payment - an online form for secure personal information - a system (person/ people) to view and approve media before going live to avoid problems. - integration with Twitter, Facebook, etc. - a social network and the ability to create personal profiles pages Websites GOOD and Jumo recently combined forces and in the spirit of their heritage as a non-profit, they will be open-sourcing their own codebase to enable other social entrepreneurs to use their progress thus far for new social endeavors - this could be important for the creation of Pixels for Peace.
