We have this existing network that you have preview on the file in attachment: (Network Topology and Diagram. pdf) As you can see we are in a area without any Network/TELCO Infrastructure because of the geographical location of the 2x remote sites. We can't also bring any Fiber-Optic or TELCO cables to the main-sites. So the only way to Interconnecting the 3x sites are by P2P- RADIO (Point-to-Point) with Antennas of 2.4GHz (Average of 30-40 Mbps symmetric) and also with Antennas of 10GHz (Average of 80-100 Mbps symmetric). The only Local Internet and Phone provider in the area are also connecting us with the outside world by P2P (Point-to-Point). Because of the limited bandwidth between the 2x Remote sites to the Main site. And also their Accounting/Production and others Servers that are very sensitive to micro disconnections. A lot of users at the remote sites can't work or staying connected to the main site permanently. And it is frustrating for them to even do a simple job from their computer because of the slowness. We finally have approval from our client to go with the integration of a Virtual- Server that could host all the 2x Remote Sites PC/Users sessions and they will access easily from their local computer by RDP session or any other Terminal session. Like this the traffic of Data across the P2P connections and sites will be lighter and faster. The right freelancer has to be familiar with all our systems and applications because everything that the users will be doing. It will be done remotely in the users session on the Virtual server. Everything ( personal data editing/sharing, Microsoft Office, network & attach printing, Internet browsing, Domain and Security, Enterprise Applications etc..).. Nothing will be on theirs local computer. Just the icon to open the terminal or remote sessions. We are not sure if the best solution will be to go with Hyper-V vs VMware or Terminal Server. Also, we have to make sure that this will not slow-down or affect in anyway the network and systems performances at the Main site. Good Luck

I have done some implementations using thin client systems (that use Microsoft rdp to connect to main system/server), however I think the best Solution for you will be xendesktop or what they call xenapps. depends upon what caters your needs best

Hello, you want to make the transition from full-PC to thin clients, correct? This is, in my experience for the whole enterprise (about 100 users), look my profile please. From experience in the transition to virtual servers - if you are using RDP and remote APP is Hyper-V cheaper. In any case, I need to talk with you in chat. I mean this experience --- "Implementation of the project on combining of branches of the enterprise in local security network (VPN[PPTP]), upgrade AD,TS win2000 server => win2003 server, the organization of a terminal server and step by step transition from PC to thin clients (thin client)."

I can definitely help you on the mentioned requirement. I am an experienced Windows Server Support Professional. We can go for Hyper-V or VM ware considering the resources which your current infra holds. Terminal Server is the best option for reducing the load as one server can hold the application and can be used no of the user simultaneously. Kindly revert if you are interested and we can discuss further on this.

Hi, I have deployed a setup that is similar to your request for assistance, over a network in several islands where connectivity between these networks where on Satellite C-Band, the delay on satellite let alone intermittent connectivity forced us to localise IT services and infrastructure where nessary, but linked into a central system. We both used Hyper-V and VM-Ware, we found eventually that VM-Ware was more beneficial due to its flexibility, in particular if you're using a multi platform system, that will not be all windows based. Either which Virtualisation you use, I'd still recommend having terminal server to maximize on its features and also maintain an easy and sane way to keep data between sites synchronized. Am available on messenger for further discussion if interested.

What I have understood that you need a VDI (Virual desktop infrastructure) or TS (Terminal services) both can accomplish your requirement but few more details needed to agree on the setup.

Hello, I'm an experienced IT Infrastructure Engineer, and I originally started out working for a Hosted Desktop solutions provider so I'm very familiar with the available Remote Desktop platforms you can use (Citrix / Remote Desktop Services). For your project, I would suggest going with the Hyper-V virtualisation platform and then depending on resources either a few Remote Desktop Services session hosts (terminal servers), or potentially looking at VDI (Windows client VMs) if you have the available capacity and licensing to do so. If you're able to use Windows Server 2012 R2, then I would highly recommend this over Windows Server 2008 R2 / 2012 for the performance increases, especially with the Remote Desktop Services area of the system. The biggest issue with your setup is going to be the network connectivity. The links between the sites have plenty of bandwidth to support a large amount of RDP traffic, but the latency between sites will need to be investigated before deploying anything. With Remote Desktop Services a latency of 100ms will cause a noticeable typing input delay for an end user, so this needs to be taken into consideration. As this is a complicated project and needs to be implemented correctly with plenty of planning, please send me a message so I can discuss this further with you.

I suggest Vmware solution is the best. Approximately 150-200kbps is sufficient for each remote session. Also existing machines can be moved to virtual environment with P2V migration. (like cloning a PC) Resource Scaling, High Availability can be done with Vmware. Price Comparison on licensing, Vmware standard $995, Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard - $1209
