Rewrite or Enhance Mailmerge Application

I currently have a visual basic 6 application that picks up an Excel and Word file from a repository and then merges the data from the excel file in to the word file. The word file has merge tokens eg <<MERGE1>> <<MERGE2>> so that that data knows where to be inserted. Rather than make one very long document , for every row in the Excel file a new word document is created. When the new word file is created a matching XML file is also created for a workflow application. The XML file holds the name of the word file and a reference number and one field from the excel file. The application works fine and there is not a problem with it. I would just like to change the application so that rather than creating a new word file it would create a PDF file. The application is not very big in size and quite straight forward, I would either like this code to be added to the current application or look to take the chance to have this application rewritten in in .net ,C++ I am happy to look at 3rd party application to create the PDF files eg Adobe, pdfcreator ect but it is important that the PDF files are created in a timely manner and any coding enhancements to speed up the current code or in the rewritten code would be a very big bonus. I am looking to try and find a developer who can help me on other projects and start a long term relationship The developer should be able to show example work or proof of working on other application like this. I will be happy to share the current code base with bidders if that will help bids.
