Sensor Development: I2C Sensor

In order to speed up our product development we are looking at working with a freelancer with solid experience in electrical engineering to create a new sensor for us. The sensor is a valve position sensor based on the Triaxis sensor from Melexis. [login to view URL] The purpose of the sensor is to know the position of a valve whenever there is a movement of the valve. Currently our sensors work on a principle where the base unit requests the current data from the sensor. In this scenario it would also need to send the last position change. This is to audit for example if a valve turned/moved in the interval. It would be mounted onto the valve and would record when an operator turns the valve or if an automatic valve, when its position changed and by how many degrees (horizontally, vertically). Example: last position change was X seconds ago with value -360h (a complete 360 turn counter clockwise on an horizontal valve). 720v would indicated 2 clockwise 360 turns on a vertically positioned valve. The sensor would be mounted onto a PCB that you need to design and that connects via a I2C connection to our master board. All the logic will happen in your board and then send it to the MASTER-BRD that in turn communicates with the base unit. You will also need to program the firmware of the MASTER-BRD (STM8). We will provide freelancer with the base unit, master board samples and Melexis samples. Deliverable are 5 fully working prototypes (material costs excluded from this bid and will be paid separately) = Sensor PCB design + Firmware programming on slave and master boards + Prototype assembly. You will also need to work with our base unit firmware developer to have it integrated into our base unit. You need to have access to a company who can make the prototypes for you. As indicated above, the bid excludes the material & PCB manufacturing costs. Those will be paid to you separately. This is an urgent project for an experience electrical engineer who can do it in her/his spare time. This a part-time project / not a full time one. This opening is NOT for agencies / design firms.
