Part 1: Logging Set up your system logger so that it will record the local3 facility with all severity levels to be saved to a file called /var/log/[login to view URL] Set up the log file rotation to rotate weekly, keep 8 weeks worth of log files and to append the date to the name of the rotated files instead of 1,2,3,4… Part 2: Installing packages After the installation of each package , send a message to the logs for local3 facility saying that the specific package installed correctly. E.g. if installing webmin, you should send the following message: “webmin installed successfully”. Install webmin. Part 3.1: Quotas Create a 1GB partition (/dev/sde1) on Server 2 /dev/sde drive. Format this partition with ext4 file system type and mount this partition to the /quotatest/sde1 directory. The /dev/sde1 partition of your server is only 1GB. You will need to set up quotas for the users. Add two user accounts to Server 2. Name these accounts user1 and user2. Give all your users a maximum of 150 files to be created as a soft limit and 200 files as a hard limit. Also put a soft limit of 50MB and a hard limit of 60MB for each user. Part 3.2: Apache virtual hosting Configure your apache server for virtual hosting. You are to create 2 different virtual hosts [login to view URL] and [login to view URL] having document roots /var/www/domain1 and /var/www/domain2 respectively. Add the following demo html pages in both document roots: <html> <head> <title>This is domain DOMAIN_NUMBER</title> #Where DOMAIN_NUMBER is either 1 or 2 </head> <body> <h1>The domain belongs to YOUR_NAME</h1> #Where YOUR_NAME is your actual name </body> </html> Part 4: Desktop VM configuration On your Desktop VM, edit your /etc/hosts file and add entries for [login to view URL] and [login to view URL] to resolve to the Server 2 IP address. Part 5: Final steps On the desktop VM, open up firefox and point it to “[login to view URL]” Take a screenshot of the resulting webpage and call it domain1.png. point your browser to “[login to view URL]” Take a screenshot of the resulting webpage and call it domain2.png. Point firefox to the login page of webmin on the server, log in and take a screenshot and call it [login to view URL]
