Website [login to view URL]
Goal of this project is to allow members from all of our websites ([login to view URL] | [login to view URL] | [login to view URL] | [login to view URL] | [login to view URL]
[login to view URL] | [login to view URL] & [login to view URL]) to log into a single help desk system with the same usernames and password they use to log into each of the websites above.
The problem is that the websites above all have their own databases. A user on [login to view URL] might have the username stuartd and a user on say [login to view URL] can have the same username stuartd or on another one of our websites, we need to allow both stuartd users to log into the help desk with the own username / password.
On the website [login to view URL] there is a login box, what I would like to do is below where a person puts in their username will be a drop down box with a list of our websites (the ones above).
If a user is from [login to view URL] and their username is stuartd and password is john123, they will put stuartd in as the username, password john123 and then select [login to view URL] as their website and log in. if a member of [login to view URL] comes along with the username stuartd and password join169 they will be able to log into a different support account and not the one for the stuartd user who uses sphosting.com.
The system will download each night the usernames and passwords from each of the databases (and any other information needed such as the customers email address and their name) the system will remove deleted accounts and update records when a user changes their password and so on. This will be a one way update only it will be a download from the websites databases to the supportsystemes database any changes in the information in the support system will not be uploaded to the websites databases.
What I was thinking is that in the support database we create an extra table called website and we store the name of the website in it
So we would store
Username: stuartd
Password: john123
Website: [login to view URL]
Username: stuartd
Password: john169
Website: [login to view URL]
And so on, this will allow many users to log into the same support system even if their usernames are the same, we can tell them appear by the website they select.
