I have a website written in php and using mysql that is, to put it gently, labrynthine in it's design. It's a relatively simple site, maybe a dozen pages and a shopping cart, but the developer who designed it went overboard with things, and thus working on this site is a nightmare. includes are stashed everywhere, the templating system is unintelligible, important variables are found in numerous places, different aspects of the menu are stored in different places (with links hard coded, or using their own variables, so when changing things sometimes one part of the menu will have the correct values, but another part won't), and there's a maddening redirection scheme in place that requires people to link the site using www., or else it adds it for them, but drops the page that they were trying to link to... I'd like someone to take possession of the code for the site, and simplify it without changing the overall functionality. Not a hurculean task, just consolidate the variables in a single place, simplify the templating system so that it's easy to change the layout across the site, or to add new templates in (note, we don't need an interface or anything for this, assume that a semi-competent coder will be doing these things), get rid of the redirection thing, and bring the number of files uses to control the system to a manageable level.
