Make my PhpBB message board and gallery run more efficiently - high server load during peak times

my site is star style inc . com (no spaces) Basically i need the site sped up - at night its fast but during the day with lots of people it can go super slow - lots of db connections My site is a phpbb2 message board with modifications and an added modified gallery I have removed alot of the features that i am not using and fixed the searches so you have to be logged in but id like someone to go look at the php files and see if anything else can be either removed or rewritten to run more efficiently i have caching of the queries in the php files and caching of the images for the gallery The part that i think takes the most resources is the gallery - the pic_view_count pic_lock pic_approval pic rating and pic_comments coding are not used at all so if this could be written out of the db and php files it might help some Also i dont neccessarily need all the ip logging of everything so if that would help the server load that can be removed
