Upgrade Checkout to use latest Jquery 2.1.0

Our one page checkout currently uses Jquery 1.2.6 and jQuery UI 1.5.2. I would like to have it upgraded to the latest 2.1.0 jquery and jQuery UI to run off google hosted libraries. [login to view URL] When we try and use newer jquery files the checkout UI functions break. We would also like the "Are you already a customer? Sign In" button to popup in a jquery window with an x in to right corner (dim the screen background), not the whole screen like it does now. We also want to switch Step 3 and Step 4.
