We are looking for help re-structuring how we advertise our items on eBay using the Auctionworks (AW) ([[login to view URL]][1]) system. As an AW early adopter, we used it in the simplest manner possible. Each of our ads on eBay is completely self contained. You can look at them from the link in our about me page: [login to view URL]
This use of a self contained ad had advantages at the beginning, an ad could serve as a template that could easily be changed. Its disadvantages are now apparent - there is no global change possible. If want to change the price of shipping, I would need to change it in every ad. Similarly if I want to change any of the terms of an auction, I have to change every ad.
AW now has some very sophisticated features. It allows you to build an ad on the fly or when needed for posting from pieces of html, like title, picture, description under picture, description, terms, shipping etc. It allows the creation of profiles so the same items can be sold on eBay or Yahoo with specific ads to each service. It accomplishes this through the use of macros. The system also allows export and import of a complete item (or all inventory) in excel format.
We need someone who can or does understand the AW features and html to design a selection of templates (say 5) using the AW functionality, one of which will replicate the look of our auctions now. The successful coder will then find a way to dissemble our current ads to capture the unique information (description of item, condition, links to manufacturer sites etc), and then recreate our inventory in excel format using the unique information and template to allow us to sell on eBay using AW as before, but now with possibility of global change through change of the pieces.
An AW and eBay account are probably required. They run around $10 to 15 a month. We have two ebay accounts and two AW accounts. We would give access to one AW account and one eBay account for limited testing, launching auctions on eBay etc to demonstrate success prio to final acceptance.
