Help with Database

I have a large excel file of golf course listings that I want imported into my database. Problem is that when I convert the excel file to php and run the install or try to import it into mysql I get file too large error or error encountered running install from browser. What I need is someone that can get around this and get this imported for me. I would also like a programmer here in the US if possible that will communicate with me more than once a day to keep me informed. I haven't have much success with the last two programmers. I do not have any IM's so communication will be thru GAF or my office email.
