I am using Joomla 3.X and I need a custom_html module that automatically refreshes after X amount of seconds. I will be using a table that needs to be refreshed. Now please note that only that custom_html module must refresh and NOT the entire page. And it should automatically refresh WITHOUT having to refresh the entire page. I would like it to look a little fancy because I have paid subscribers who access this content so if you have any good ideas on making it look better by adding col loading icons etc, it would be great. I need this done as soon as possible. One other very important thing is that this module must NOT hog up server resources. It should be lightweight and easy on the web server.

AJAX is your friend for this task, but i would suggest not to cover data with loading spinner, i would add a status field somewhere on the side or on top of your content. AJAX calls PHP script that gives you the result and then jquery prints it to the given place. So you can print all data or by parts to make it more faster.
