PHP/PDO File Upload

I have a PHP script that is supposed to upload Word documents. However, the script only executes when a previous document is already in existence in the system. I need the script fixed so that it executes even when there isn't a previous document already uploaded. I also have additional scripts that need repair, should you fix this script in a timely manner, I'd be more than happy to hire you to fix some of my other scripts. This needs to be fixed QUICKLY, by the coming Monday at the latest. The script only contains 50 or so lines of code. My budget is no more than $30.
