troubleshooting with pure-ftpd on debian - ''530 Login authentication failed''

Hello A quick job for someone who has done it before. We have setup pure-ftpd on a debian machine. we created a ftp user also. Basically followed instructions on this link: <[login to view URL]> all went smooth. Except that when we want to connect to ftp using the user we created - it never allowed us. This is the log we see is as follows: 220---------- Welcome to Pure-FTPd [privsep] [TLS] ---------- USER datamapia 331 User datamapia OK. Password required PASS ********** 530 Login authentication failed Need someone who can fix this. I will provide with linux machine access (vpn, user id and password) to selected coder. thanks, Avinash
