Drag and Drop Football (Soccer) Team Selection Web Page

I am developing a web-based football (soccer) manager game using ASP.NET (VB Codebehind). I now need a front-end interface to make it easy for manager to make their team selections, either by drag and drop or by swapping players with one-click. Once the manager has made the relevant changes to the team selection he/she will click a 'save' button and the page must save the team selection to the database. See attached screenshot of how it looks at the moment. Please ignore the red, green colours on the pitch - for the sake of this job the pitch will just be green. A connection is made to a sqldatasource to get the current team selection from a SQL Server Database. A codebehind function is used to populate the pitch with the players in the right positions when the page loads. A different sqldatasource is used to get all the players available to be selected. This is used to populate the gridview on the left of the screen. Problem with this is: - If I refresh the page the pitch view is not populated again. - To change a selection the manager needs to change values in the dropdown lists. This is complicated and you also dont get to see your change on the pitch straight away. - I would ideally like it that if a player is dragged on to the field in a position then wherever he is hovered over changes colour depending on how suitable he is for that position. i.e. if I drag a left forward over the left back position the place where I'm dragging should be highlighted or border changed to red. If I drag a left mid over left back then it only changes to orange. If I drag a left back over the left back position then it should show as green. - As an alternative to dragging from the team list and on to the pitch I'd also like the manager to be able to access a context list from the list of available players and click on another player in that list and the swap must be made I dont expect for any graphic design to be done on the page, just the functionality. The functionality should work on Internet Explorer (from version 6), Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari and Opera. This should be a relatively straight-forward job for a developer with the right skills. I will be able to provide the code for the current selection page as I have it, as well as a sample of the SQL Server database tables that the player and selection information is stored.
