hello
i'm an experienced system admin / internet marketer / php programmer.
i've 15+ year with linux distros experience, 10+ as a php programmer and +6 as an internet marketer.
i've been doing email marketing for my customers since 2009, first i started with interspire, i think it was send studio back then and postfix as a mta..
then after a while i learnd a lot of things about spam, fbl, throttling, rotating ips and so on. i pretty much customized postfix for the last couple of years so now it really has probably all the features of powermta
you can setup postfix to rotate ip address, throttle emails for each domain, apply limits, etc..
also i created some scripts to display stats for each domain.
now with powermta things are simpler to setup cause it has that config file.
all-in-all i'm using interspire with powermta as well postfix with great results.
i also have installed all the modules to increase interspire functionality and make it multi-threaded, process fbl, alert about spam complaints..
few words about best practices to send a lot of email:
- constantly monitor spam blacklist and act on it if you get any alert
- have valid spf and sign with dkim and domain keys
- configure reverse dns
- use feedback loops
- process bounces
- use A LOT of ip address and rotate them
- throttle emails / provider, powermta has that builtin with few rules
- you asked something about warming the ips.. yea, powermta has that function too, the idea is to start sending less mail for a period of time and gradually increase it to stay under the spam / blacklist radar
in a few words that's pretty much it.
in the end, why do i think i can help you?
because i'm doing this job for the last couple of years, i learned a lot of things so my experience could be valuable. also i like to stay updated with news and willing to learn new things
right now i'm managing two servers with interspire and few others with powermta with 512 ip addresses.
forgot about this, another thing you can do is to load balancing the smtp server (from linux), its way faster than using an interspire addon to allow more smtp servers.
