Development of a Babysitter Connection Platform - App and Backend Overhaul

I initiated the development of this project in 2019, and while significant progress has been made, the existing codebase has become outdated. However, parts of the code can still be reused if desired. Currently, the app and its corresponding screens, along with the backend, are mostly in place, but considering the outdated code, a fresh start might be more prudent. We are open to selecting the technology for the project, with options such as PHP, Java, Python, or Ruby being available. However, the final decision on the technology stack must be discussed with me. The primary focus of this project is to build a platform that facilitates connections between individuals seeking babysitters and available babysitters. The platform allows users to create babysitting requests for specific user groups or open them globally. Babysitters and family members will receive push notifications if they are part of relevant user groups or can view global requests within a specific radius. Babysitters can then apply to these requests, and the person seeking a babysitter can choose and accept their preferred candidate from the received applications. The project's key components include: 1. Frontend Screens: - Login Page with Social Login (Google) - Friends Management: -- Invite friends -- Remove friends - Group Management: -- Create Groups -- Add friends to groups - Create Babysitter Event: -- Title, from-to time, number of kids, visibility (select groups) - Overview of Babysitter Events in the user's environment 2. Backend / Small Admin Dashboard: - Home Screen with statistics and charts showing online users, new users this week, and open requests. - Superuser Functions: -- "Remove/Block" feature for managing user accounts effectively. -- "Password Reset" feature for user accounts. - User Overview: -- Display the total number of requests and job applications made by each user. -- List all requests made by a specific user. -- List all job applications submitted by a specific user. - Feedback Section to display all received feedback. - Consistent theme and design throughout the app's interface. - Implement filters for tables to sort data based on various criteria. 3. Backend Deployment: - The backend should ideally be deployable on platforms like Heroku to enable a free proof-of-concept testing. Requirements and Open Points for the App: - Implement a range-search feature, possibly with a map, to improve location-based searches. - Rethink the current invitation system for new requests; consider a more scalable approach. - Enhance multilingual support for the app, ensuring all labels and content are translatable. - Improve app design, addressing spacing issues, and adopting modern design principles. - Ensure cross-platform compatibility for Android and iOS. - Enable users to create calendar entries for requests directly from the app. - Implement push notifications and registration confirmation emails. - Incorporate tests, including core function, unit tests, and assess the feasibility of UX tests. The project's emphasis lies on maintainability, and comprehensive documentation is essential, including an installation guide for users.
